What people are saying about the courses

It’s a vulnerable topic “sex talk” but the space you created was safe and felt comfortable to share and exchange.

Rory - Father of two boysNatal, South Africa

Thank you for being the super cool human you are, for all your valuable work with these beautiful teenagers and for the time spent together – you really do have a gift and it’s much appreciated!

Finding the Clarity Course very informative and also very introspective – I have to do a lot of unpacking and unraveling myself.

1. Clarity

This is the first in a series of online courses designed to equip you with the necessary tools, to talk to your loved ones calmly and confidently about anything!

Whether you are a parent talking to your children about sex; or in a relationship, romantic or not, talking about boundaries or what you feel you need.
This course provides you with a solid foundation so that no topic is too scary and no feeling is denied.

This is your essential first step.

This course prepares you to have conversations related to sex and relationship with your children, students, partners and friends.

Once we know what we would like to say and how we would like to communicate it, coupled with what kind of relationship we are wanting to foster, it is much easier to have conversations about anything.

For all of us, and especially parents, once you know where you are going, what you want to say and how you want to guide your children, the “sex” conversations become easier.

Simply put once you know where you are going it is much easier to get there!

This course is designed to be simple and effective. It is created to be accessible and time efficient so you can fit it into your life with ease.

“My sex education was non-existent and that didn’t help me. It was neither useful nor supportive not having a safe, trustworthy adult to talk to about sex. I believed this had changed until I started working with teens in schools and talking to parents and friends. I realised nothing had changed! We still don’t know how to talk about sex. We still don’t have the skills to be able to have uncomfortable conversations. With children or each other.” ~ Kate Rowe, course facilitator and founder of Explorare.

6. What to talk about when?

Sex education,  is not about “the talk”, it has never and will never be about having one or two conversations about sex. Sexuality is part of our lives and needs to be integrated on a daily basis. For adults this too is true, we need to be having conversations more often about what we want and don’t want as we grow and change because our sex education was probably not ideal. It is time to change the conversation.

  • Practical tools and tips on how to introduce and speak to your children about sex
  • Learn to know when is the right time to speak about different topics
  • Find useful ways to speak about different aspects of sex and relationships, with children and partners
  • Understand the importance of modelling the behaviour you want to see in others and your children

Teacher training and Development

This training focuses on introducing and developing the skills needed to answer and address any questions from children regarding sexuality and relationships, at any age.

It is vital for teachers to be able to address and manage the various questions and subjects which are being raised and asked by children.  There is time specifically set aside for question and answer sessions, where specific questions or issues that the teachers are or have experienced can be addressed and unpacked.

We cover topics such as consent, boundaries, desire, the different stages of sexual development, what to say when, how to handle social media and interactions between children. We also look at our own personal stories which strongly impact how we respond to relationship and sexuality questions and actions of children and teens.

I  believe this is essential training for any teacher, we need to develop our own understandings and skills so we can confidently meet the questions and actions of the children in our schools and classrooms.

Conversations with Kate

“Conversations with Kate” are conversations that happen once a month, where we, at Explorare, choose a topic that is a relevant and essential conversation. If we want to get better at talking about uncomfortable things then we need to practice. To create safe emotional spaces within our relationships and our families we need to talk and explore topics that we may find a little uncomfortable at first.

There will be a sharing of information on the topic and then an opportunity for your questions to be answered.

All the calls will be run through the zoom platform and are 1.5 hours in duration. You are welcome to join for as long as is possible for you.

We look forward to having you join us for a conversation and sharing of information. Bring your heart and your cup of tea… Yeah!
