What people are saying about the courses

It’s a vulnerable topic “sex talk” but the space you created was safe and felt comfortable to share and exchange.

Rory - Father of two boysNatal, South Africa

Thank you for being the super cool human you are, for all your valuable work with these beautiful teenagers and for the time spent together – you really do have a gift and it’s much appreciated!

Jo - Mother of twoCape Town, South Africa

Finding the Clarity Course very informative and also very introspective – I have to do a lot of unpacking and unraveling myself.

Ilse - Mom to a toddler and a teenNatal, South Africa

I had no idea how deeply fulfilling it would be to participate on this course. The content and exercises are highly accessible, clear, simple, and yet contains within them a deep wisdom that has been permeating my everyday life, allowing me to develop and improve my emotional intelligence and capacity to relate in a healthy way in all aspects of my life. The tools we are learning on this course will assist in supporting kids and young people to connect to their interior landscape, and what they are feeling in relation to those around them, and thus communicate and act from an empowered place not only in relation to sex and relationships, but all aspects of life. An outstanding course and programme that is not overwhelming in terms of cost or time investment, but will add immense value to your life and relationships!

SarahCape Town

Thank you Kate for the opportunity to participate in this connection course, it has been invaluable to my awareness of how to better understand myself and others when communicating with them. What you teach and the way you teach it allowed me to see more clearly how to integrate into my life the communication tools you teach on the connection course and really understand how these are needed to improve my connection skills. What was interesting for me was that although I knew a number of the tools you teach, I was not able to integrate them effectively when communicating with others until this course! So thank you Kate for this amazing course and the safe container it provided with others to allow me to see more clearly the importance of understanding myself and those I am connecting with. This course has allowed me to take my connection skills, particularly with my children, to a new level!

1. Clarity

[wpanchor id=”#claritycourse”]

This is the first in a series of online courses designed to equip you with the necessary tools, to talk to your loved ones calmly and confidently about anything!

Whether you are a parent talking to your children about sex; or in a relationship, romantic or not, talking about boundaries or what you feel you need.
This course provides you with a solid foundation so that no topic is too scary and no feeling is denied.

This is your essential first step.

This course prepares you to have conversations related to sex and relationship with your children, students, partners and friends.

Once we know what we would like to say and how we would like to communicate it, coupled with what kind of relationship we are wanting to foster, it is much easier to have conversations about anything.

For all of us, and especially parents, once you know where you are going, what you want to say and how you want to guide your children, the “sex” conversations become easier.

Simply put once you know where you are going it is much easier to get there!

This course is designed to be simple and effective. It is created to be accessible and time efficient so you can fit it into your life with ease.

“My sex education was non-existent and that didn’t help me. It was neither useful nor supportive not having a safe, trustworthy adult to talk to about sex. I believed this had changed until I started working with teens in schools and talking to parents and friends. I realised nothing had changed! We still don’t know how to talk about sex. We still don’t have the skills to be able to have uncomfortable conversations. With children or each other.” ~ Kate Rowe, course facilitator and founder of Explorare.

6. What to talk about when?

Sex education,  is not about “the talk”, it has never and will never be about having one or two conversations about sex. Sexuality is part of our lives and needs to be integrated on a daily basis. For adults this too is true, we need to be having conversations more often about what we want and don’t want as we grow and change because our sex education was probably not ideal. It is time to change the conversation.

  • Practical tools and tips on how to introduce and speak to your children about sex
  • Learn to know when is the right time to speak about different topics
  • Find useful ways to speak about different aspects of sex and relationships, with children and partners
  • Understand the importance of modelling the behaviour you want to see in others and your children

Teacher training and Development

[wpanchor id=”#sexedteachers”]

This training focuses on introducing and developing the skills needed to answer and address any questions from children regarding sexuality and relationships, at any age.

It is vital for teachers to be able to address and manage the various questions and subjects which are being raised and asked by children.  There is time specifically set aside for question and answer sessions, where specific questions or issues that the teachers are or have experienced can be addressed and unpacked.

We cover topics such as consent, boundaries, desire, the different stages of sexual development, what to say when, how to handle social media and interactions between children. We also look at our own personal stories which strongly impact how we respond to relationship and sexuality questions and actions of children and teens.

I  believe this is essential training for any teacher, we need to develop our own understandings and skills so we can confidently meet the questions and actions of the children in our schools and classrooms.

Conversations with Kate

[wpanchor id=”#conversationswithkate”]

“Conversations with Kate” are conversations that happen once a month, where we, at Explorare, choose a topic that is a relevant and essential conversation. If we want to get better at talking about uncomfortable things then we need to practice. To create safe emotional spaces within our relationships and our families we need to talk and explore topics that we may find a little uncomfortable at first.

There will be a sharing of information on the topic and then an opportunity for your questions to be answered.

All the calls will be run through the zoom platform and are 1.5 hours in duration. You are welcome to join for as long as is possible for you.

We look forward to having you join us for a conversation and sharing of information. Bring your heart and your cup of tea… Yeah!

Courses for Tweens and Teens

[wpanchor id=”#teenssexed”]

Sex and relationship education

The purposed of these courses is to support tw/teens to develop the skills they need to navigate relationship, sexuality, emotions and making healthy choices. Through learning more about themselves and their motivations and influences.

The way forward is to empower our kids to know what is okay for them and what is not. To empower them to make the healthiest choices that they can in any given situation. To create environments and relationships that are open, safe and connected. Connection allows for teens to explore tough and challenging subjects. Environments of trust and acceptance allow for supportive discussions on all subjects.

We believe that “Connection is the solution”. It is through connected relationships that we will be able to support teens to navigate the world that they are in.

We live in a world that has challenges that we never faced or experienced to the extent that teens do today. Access to pornography, facebook, online dating, casual sex sites, tinder, grinder, information on how to, where to and why. The access to pornography is having a deep and profound impact on how teens interact with themselves and others in relationship. Their understanding about pleasure and desire in relation to sex is being coloured by the information that is available. The time for a new way is now.

Our goal is to support the cultivation of tw/teens ability to be self-directed, self-governed and self-boundaried. To make healthier life choices.
